A Summer Drive in Smithers

In the middle of winter, sometimes it is hard to remember that it was once warm and sunny. That’s when I paint some images left over from summer, like this one. We drove along the Telkwa High Road and along the way we would see these lovely images of barns and fields of green.

This is also an exercise in painting smaller. I generally paint on canvas 20”x30”, but lately I have been working smaller. The funny thing is, I feel like I am creating more distance in these smaller forms. I think I am going to spend this year working smaller to see what happens. Stay tuned for the updates.
